A New Kind Of Kick

My "Patchwork Of Flesh" blog has proved very successful, asking people to send in their interpretations of Frankenstein's Monster has been great fun, I have received some truly wonderful art from professionals, amateurs and children. The project is still running and I hope to exhibit the submissions in a gallery sometime in the future.

I am an avid record collector and have been since I discovered the joys of punk rock 7"s back in the late seventies. Give me a box of records to look through and I'm as happy as Larry. Doesn't matter whether it's a record shop, boot sale or just looking at somebody else's collection. Record sleeves speak volumes about what treats are bagged inside them and are quite often works of art that rival the music they contain.

My newest art project is to ask readers to send in their own versions of record sleeves, either LPs or 45s. Anything goes but it should be recognizable as the original cover. No size restrictions or limits on what your sleeves are created from, they do not have to be 12" or 7" in size, mini versions are perfectly acceptable.

I hope this captures the imagination of as many people as "A Patchwork Of Flesh". I'm gonna work on something which I'll post as soon as it's finished. Let's see what you've got!

  3. Cool idea. Just not that artistic, other than with yarn & a needle, and not sure I could do this. But can't wait to see what you get!
